Gloria is an established Northern Californian artist. Her professional flexibility and regard for varying styles yields a diverse portfolio. Originally from Silverton, Oregon, De la Cruz has established a reputation as a muralist and entrepreneur in Lake County. In 2010, she was the sole artist commissioned by the county for redevelopment efforts of the North Shore region.
De la Cruz’s most recent commissioned works reside on 3rd and Main st. in Lakeport, Cache Creek Vineyards & Winery tasting room, located in southern Lake County, and The Spot, a retro-styled American diner. Her murals also cover walls inside her business, The Catfish Coffeehouse. The musical themes of the murals at the Clearlake and Clearlake Oaks locations of the Coffeehouse were completed in 2011 and 2013. They embody a rich history of music in the region and are popular among locals and tourists alike.
Murals of local significance also include the lake scene on the water tank in Clearlake Oaks, The Riviera Motel, and the depiction of the historic Lucerne Hotel for Harbor Village in Lucerne; these works all located along the winding lakeside Highway 20. However, her work extends beyond Lake County. Earlier murals can be found in Calistoga, Richmond, and The Hampton Inn in Arcada, California. She began her artistic career with J Stone Greeting Cards of Silverton, Oregon as the head illustrator and soon after studied fine art formally at The University of Oregon.
These days, she favors charcoal and watercolor as a medium in personal endeavors. Contracted work ranges widely in size and style mostly due to her openness and capacity for new challenges.
I use varnishes that include ultraviolet light and graffiti protection which is excellent for application over exterior murals where paintings are exposed to the public, and where colors can begin to fade over time.
I aim to make commissioning a piece of art from me a simple process. I enjoy making every effort to capture my clients imagination through maintaining flexibility in style, and medium.
